Energy Conservation in Carpet Dyeing by Dyebath Recycling
نویسنده
چکیده
ABSTMCT: Reduction in the requirements for water, energy, and chemicals have been achieved by changes in carpet beck dyeing procedures. Instead of discharging the dyebath following each dye cycle, in the new procedure the spent bath is analyzed, reconstituted to the desired concentration of dyes and auxiliary chemicals, and reused. Bench scale dyeings were conducted initially to define operational parameters for coloring commercial nylon carpet a variety of shades with both acid and disperse dyes. The procedures developed were employed in pilot scale equipment for dyeing carpets with reuse of the dye bath for up to f ive dyeings before dumping. Within sample end-to-end variations and between sample variations in color were assessed by instrumental techniques. Results suggest that commercially acceptable carpet dyeings can be achieved in recycled dyebaths. Compared with conventional carpet beck dyeing, the modified proceflures make possible savings of 33 percent in chemical costs, 58 percent in wafer re quirements, and 67 percent in energy requirements.

One-pot synthesis of disperse dyes under microwave irradiation: dyebath reuse in dyeing of polyester fabrics.
A series of 4-hydroxyphenylazopyrazolopyrimidine disperse dyes were prepared via one-pot reactions of p-hydroxyphenylhydrazone, hydrazine hydrate, and acetylacetone or enaminones using microwave irradiation as an energy source. Structural assignments of the dyes were confirmed by X-ray crystallographic structure determination. Instead of discharging the dyebath after each dyeing cycle, the resi...
متن کاملTitle : Biological Renovation and Reuse of Spent Reactive
The objective of this project was to biologically renovate reactive dyebaths and reuse the high-salt containing mixture in the dyeing process. This approach accomplishes two goals: (a) elimination of the color from the plant effluent; and (b) reuse of the renovated process water and salts, thus leading to final wastewater volume reduction, and water, as well as salt conservation. Nine commercia...

The fiber, dye and dyebath variables which affect the batch dyeing of polyester with disperse dyes are discussed, as are some of the chemical properties of disperse dyes which influence the normal conditions of dye application, stripping and reduction clearing. Discussion of the continuous dyeing of polyester is deferred to a iater chapter on dyeing polyester/cellulosic

We have continued to make good progress in all the diverse components of our research effort. Closed-loop control of dyeing processes requires real time monitoring of dyebath concentrations. Significant advances have been made in the use of both visible region absorption spectrophotometry, and flow-injection analysis (F.I.A.), for real-time dyebath analysis. Methods were developed for handling ...
